Innovative: Our educational methodology is based on the premises of the Love of Learning and finding your gifts and genius through Following Your Fascinations. We replace the archaic model of authoritative and competitive education with a collaborative, cooperative and shared knowledge approach. Students enter into an agreement to support one another to create mutually enhancing relationships between the students themselves, students and mentors, as well as students and both Nature & Society. Our curriculum teaches students the latest technologies and practices from the most respected experts in nature-based education and therapy as well as the field of Human Development. At U of Earth we are dedicated to the Scholar~Practitioner graduating as a leader in their field.
Sustainable: Our online format minimizes impacts to our environment by reducing our carbon footprint through the elimination of the need to travel to physical campuses for students, faculty, administration and maintenance staff. In addition, our "University without Walls" eliminates the excessive use of many our precious natural resources that would normally be consumed in the operation of a physical campus, from paperless student-faculty interactions to energy for lighting, heating, construction and maintenance, etc..
Affordable: While it is possible to cut costs with some ingenuity, according a 2009 report of the College Board the cost, not including books and living expenses, of a Bachelor's degree for 56% of students attending public schools is around $9,000/year with the overall average being nearly $7,000/year, while costs for private schools average over $25,000/year. FinAid.org reports that the average student leaves with their Master's Degree with a loan debt of anywhere between $30,000 and $120,000.
Our "University without Walls" allow students to avoid expensive relocation, transportation and student housing costs. In addition, by eliminating the overhead of operating a physical campus, U of Earth can offer courses at affordable rates. The total cost of our sixty (60) credit BA/MA Degree through U of Earth is $9,000 ($9,450 for 63 credit PhD), or $150/credit, plus books.*
*This overall cost does not include costs for students electing to exercise the option of enrolling in elective units outside of the core curriculum from organizations other than U of Earth.
Flexible: We offer both time flexibility and curriculum flexibility. Our online format allows students to schedule their studies around the needs of other demands and desires of daily life. In addition, our educational methodology maintains curriculum flexibility by allowing students to request changes in core course readings and petition to substitute core curriculum courses with self-designed course work.
